Mr. Giorgio has been training ITF Taekwon-Do for 27 years. At Giorgio’s, it is our mission to give all students a solid foundation in ITF Taekwon-Do (International Taekwon-Do Federation).
The core principles of Taekwon-Do include: Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance, and Indomitable Spirit and it is these principles that guide our teaching. As students progress in TKD, they continually learn new fundamental techniques. The method used to practice these fundamental techniques is the Taekwon-Do “pattern”.
A Taekwon-Do pattern is a choreographed sequence of fundamental movements. General Choi, the founder of Taekwon-Do, developed twenty-four patterns. The patterns are introduced gradually as each student progresses. They must demonstrate a certain mastery of their pattern before they can advance in rank. Practicing patterns will improve a child’s technique, ability to focus, and sense of balance. Each rank achieved enhances the student’s self-esteem and personal growth! It takes the average student approximately 7 years to attain the level of black belt.
Our achievement system is based on the traditional, time-tested, internationally recognized tenets of ITF TKD. At Giorgio’s Taekwon-Do, we realize many NGCC children were very close to obtaining their non-traditional Junior Black Belt and we intend to honor this form of promotion. Higher ranking children from this Junior Taekwondo program will be given their Junior Black Belt - and they can be very proud of this achievement! These students will also be presented with their yellow belt in ITF Taekwon-Do and will begin their journey towards obtaining an internationally recognized black belt in the true art of Taekwon-Do.
ITF TKD is recognized all over the world, so students’ important achievements and ranks are recognized all over the world. Taekwon-Do is an enriching experience that lasts a lifetime! Please let us know if you have any questions about our system.
